New Research: Talking Engagement into Being.

With boundary-blurring social media use on the rise, and worldwide employee engagement reaching all-time lows, this paper examines how employees’ preferences for managing personal/professional boundaries influences their work communication on social media. We also examine how these factors affect employees engagement. This analysis draws from a 3-wave panel study of 361 Dutch employees. The results show that mediated work communication is a critical avenue through which employees construct (rather than merely express) their engagement. Further, we discuss how companies can leverage this knowledge to help employees construct their engagement via new media. Read the paper online by clicking here.
